Attracting more tourists, fostering loyalty, and offering personalized experiences are core challenges for every tourism board. Since July 24, the Grand Sancerre region has embraced innovation with Suzzie, a generative AI-powered chatbot.
Developed in partnership with the Centre-Val de Loire Regional Tourism Committee, Suzzie was selected as a winner of Atout France’s “Tourism Innovation & Experimentation” call for projects under the Destination France plan, supported by the French government.
Suzzie enhances the visitor journey by providing real-time, multilingual information about the region, stretching from the Loire riverbanks to vineyards, rolling hills, and bocage landscapes.
Suzzie is an AI travel assistant available 24/7, connected directly to the Tourinsoft platform. It helps travelers find accurate, up-to-date information on:
QR codes placed on 15 billboards along the Loire à Vélo route and the lateral canal to the Loire give easy access to Suzzie in five languages: French, English, Spanish, German, and Dutch.
The chatbot is also embedded on the Grand Sancerre Tourism Office website, helping visitors plan their trip in advance.
Visitors can scan a QR code or click the chat bubble online to launch a conversation. Suzzie responds instantly, taking into account personal preferences like age, desired activities, or travel dates.
It doesn’t just inform—it customizes the journey, recommending points of interest, nearby events, and ideas to explore all nine towns in the area: Sury-près-Léré, Léré, Boulleret, Bannay, Saint-Satur, Sancerre, Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre, Thauvenay, and Saint-Bouize.
Deploying a generative AI chatbot for tourism brings value on many levels:
Suzzie is a powerful example of how AI in smart tourism can improve both service quality and operational efficiency.
