How can institutions better welcome visitors, enrich mediation, and create memorable souvenirs ? The National Sports Museum in Nice turned to Ask Mona to tackle these three challenges using cultural artificial intelligence. The result: a seamless, multilingual experience designed for both visitors and internal teams.
The first component of the project is a practical information chatbot available in five languages: French, English, Italian, German, and Spanish. Accessible from the museum's website, it allows visitors to easily plan their visit without navigating multiple pages.
Frequently asked questions are answered instantly: opening hours, directions, ticketing, temporary exhibitions, family offers… all in the visitor’s native language. It’s a time-saver for the public and a real relief for the museum staff.
On-site, the experience takes another form: a conversational tour guide. Visitors can interact with the museum’s exhibits and themes at their own pace. They ask questions—spoken or typed—and receive contextual, accessible, and always accurate responses, drawn directly from the museum’s content.
This conversational format is especially popular with younger audiences and encourages visitor autonomy.
The CMS provided by Ask Mona allows staff to update content easily, with no technical skills required. The museum controls which languages are active, what points of interest are highlighted, and can track usage with detailed analytics: session count, languages used, question types, etc.
Another major benefit: no app to download, no equipment to maintain. Visitors use their own smartphones, minimizing maintenance, avoiding obsolescence, and keeping costs low.
In addition to the on-site digital tools, the National Sports Museum now offers three interactive souvenir magnets, co-designed with Ask Mona: themed around the World Cup, the Olympic torches, and the museum itself. Once scanned, these talking objects let visitors engage in a dialogue with a character or symbol tied to the collections. Every answer is based on verified sources from the museum’s content.
Designed as a connected keepsake, this format creates a lasting link between the institution and its visitors, long after the visit. It’s an original and engaging way to prolong the experience, bring sports heritage to life… and bring the cup home.
By simultaneously addressing practical information, mediation, and logistics, the National Sports Museum demonstrates how a well-designed conversational agent can meet multiple strategic goals. Developed in collaboration with Ask Mona, this project is an inspiring example of what artificial intelligence can offer institutions: an enriched visitor experience, smoother operations for teams, and a forward-looking public image.
